Five Ferrari One-Offs That Need To Be Commissioned

March 25, 2014

After a week of walking through shopping malls, I've realized Americans love customizing their objects. There's no other reason why jewelry stores stay in business, people can design their own iPhone case, and why the interior decorator profession exists. Meanwhile, I, a Thinkpad user who finally "upgraded" to Windows 8.1, am perfectly content with buying anything off the Old Navy rack rather than Armani.

2015 Model Year Reveals To Look Forward To

March 25, 2014

Two weeks ago, the production Ford Mustang was revealed. This involved numerous stories from media outlets on everything from a "burnout button" to articles about whether people would buy hybrid or diesel Mustangs. The Mustang was billed as the 2015 model year reveal of the year and it didn't disappoint. But it's now time to focus on other important cars coming out for the 2015 model year (at least until the first media drives of the Mustang are published).

Five Wonderful Winter Automotive Reads

March 25, 2014

As I've realized after swapping my flip-flops for shoes, seeing Christmas trees on top of Priuses, and dodging the salespeople at shopping mall kiosks, it's winter. This means turning the thermostat up 20 degrees, buying everything in The North Face catalog and waiting five minutes extra to warm the car up in the morning. If you live in the Midwest, that is.

Five Fun Affordable Mid-Engine Rear-Drive Cars

March 25, 2014

Being a millennial, there's nothing that I miss from the 1980s, mainly because I wasn't born yet. However, ever since I discovered Buzzfeed, I developed a nostalgia for that decade. This has involved watching Cosby Show reruns and any John Hughes movie, as well as hoping that Eastern European geography would be simpler. But the decade of Reagan, Walkmans, and Eddie Murphy starring in watchable movies had its good moments when it comes to cars.

The ACTUAL Customer of LA Auto Show Debut Vehicles

March 25, 2014

I love auto shows for the many, many activities for car enthusiasts. Messing with Ford's "intelligent" robot. Doing the Ride and Drives. Getting free coffee mugs. Questioning auto show models about the products they're standing next to. Collecting all the brochures I can only for my sister to later use them for scrapbooking.

The Best Under-$30K Vehicles For One-Car Families

March 24, 2014

Nightmares come in many forms. Coca-Cola Classic being discontinued. The iPhone rendered useless due to a virus. Obamacare being implemented. Makeup artists buying Miatas in droves. Sarah Palin being elected president.

Five Questionable Vehicle Choices By American Police Departments

March 24, 2014

Jalopnik likes to keep track of the different police cars around the world. This mainly consists of reporting the new exotic acquired by the Dubai Police Department or an update of the Carabinieri's Lamborghini Gallardo, with the occasional mention of a new domestic police vehicle.

Five Cars With a Pitiful Color Selection

March 24, 2014

Apart from playing too much solitaire for my own good and writing these lists, I spend a lot of time on online car configurators. You know, those sections of an automaker's website where you can create your dream car, feel a sense of accomplishment for five seconds, and then get back to that paper you were writing. (Though in my case, it's more like "Let's see what I can do to double the price of that Cayman...")

Five New Cars For Breaking Ed Bolian's Cross-Country Record

March 24, 2014

I'll be honest. Since reading The Driver and watching 32 Hours 7 Minutes (sorry Mr. Roy, had to see at least some footage of the run), I’ve been thinking of ways to beat Alex Roy and David Maher's record of crossing the country in 31 hours and 4 minutes. Which Ed Bolian broke last October. Naturally, this also involved thinking of vehicles currently on sale that could be used for the record. Which led to this list containing both serious thought and ridiculous pretensions.

Five Cars That'll Force Car Thieves To Think Twice

March 24, 2014

Time and again, I like to tell people how great it is to live in California. You can ski in the mountains and visit the beach on the same day. State and national parks abound and are nearby. Microbreweries are not hard to find. The automotive scene is excellent, mainly since we have Pebble Beach.
