Today’s rewind is on open-air Land Rover models that were available in the US. Unfortunately, this isn’t about the Land Rover Defender, which was excellent in every way and has held its value steadily for the last twenty years, to my chagrin, which is why I’ve been searching to the ends of the earth for a good P38 Range Rover, which is much, much cheaper.

Yes, after weeks of not posting on Clunkerture, I’ve decided to publish something. I agree that it’s probably not something interesting to much of the audience (if there even is one). But since people do come here to read things, it only makes sense to provide a review of yet more reading material (in this case a 400+ page book), in between the weeks it takes me to put up a new post on Clunkerture.

Yes, I know you’ve read numerous reviews of the Lincoln MKZ. Before you skip this one, to keep readers (and myself) interested, I made a promise to myself that while reviewing the car that the terms “Ford” or “Fusion” wouldn’t exist in my consciousness. That’s because I’m sick of hearing those words mentioned throughout every MKZ review I’ve read in newspapers, magazines, and websites, and frankly, the Lincoln people are too.

Now, you’ve all gone to shows you didn’t like. You didn’t want to see that Miley Cyrus concert with your daughters. (But you needed to ensure she didn’t do anything risqué.) Maybe it was this morning’s sermon, where the pastor (who happens to read Buzzfeed) went on and on about the Oscars and how Jennifer Lawrence didn’t win. Or you were dragged to a Sylvester Stallone movie by your roommates where your group ended up being the only people in the audience. But most of us almost never want to be dragged into an art exhibition.

Feel free to apply whatever's written in this driver profile to owners of current-generation Audi A4s and Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars. Because there's really no difference between their buyers and their corresponding lifestyles.

These days, I continue to read that the rich are becoming richer. After all, haven’t the prices for high-end Manhattan real estate gone through the roof? Doesn’t the Swiss watch industry debut a new $100,000 watch every minute? Isn’t Gulfstream unable to keep up with the pace of G650 orders? Aren’t the Kardashians cornering the market on G-Wagens with each new reality show they produce?
Read MoreThat Had a Manual? The Lincoln LS Edition
I've been critical of Lincoln lately, but that's only because the LS has existed in my lifetime, so I know the Lincoln Motor Company has serious potential. If the LS never existed, I would've given up on Lincoln instead of writing about how they had no idea where they were going, a statement which didn't sit well with the Lincoln brass.

Ladies and gentlemen, so far the press releases I've analyzed with the benefit of hindsight have had some substance to them. The Jeep Trail-Rated badges. The Centennial Edition Ford lineup. That time MINI wanted to tell auto journalists that there were a few new flags for the roof. Well, this time it's something different which perhaps all auto journalists would've figured out on their own without the automaker press release.
Read MoreDriver Profile: Lincoln Town Car
I definitely made this one way too easy for myself, because everyone knows who drives a Town Car. It's always some baby boomer who works for or owns a limousine service. If it's not them, however, it'll be someone easily over 60 who consider it a luxury car on par with anything put out by Mercedes-Benz. However, since Lincoln is no longer making a Town Car sedan, they've slapped the "Town Car" name on an MKT, and have sold them in droves to livery services. This means that you might be redirected to the nearest prep school when you show up at a charity gala.

As many of you know, I have a tendency to spend way too much time on online car configurators. This has involved creating $200,000 911 Carreras, an $80,000 528i, and a beautiful Black Kirsch Rolls-Royce Phantom XWB with a wonderful two-tone interior that I promptly forgot to save. Car configurators are a fantastic way to waste time, especially when you can create the perfect car that’ll be sitting on dealers’ lots as a lease return in three years’ time.
