Press Release Rewind: Lincoln Town Car Ballistic Protection Series

July 4, 2014

Sometime last year, Matt Farah of The Smoking Tire bought a bulletproof 1993 Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard on Craigslist for $2,500. In one video, Matt Farah “was sitting in” the car while a buddy shot at the driver’s side front window with a 9mm handgun. Later, when shooting at the car with high-powered rifles, most of the bulletproof material failed after a few shots and it ended up being torched.

Here's Why Diesels Are Better Than Hybrids

June 18, 2014

The plan with today’s piece is to stoke debate. Plenty of debate. This is because it puts something called money on the line, which makes this debate worth something, unlike all those manual vs. automatic transmission pieces I constantly come across. Honestly, having an article with a title like that is a no-brainer for that goal and having plenty of comments to respond to, which on Clunkerture, is like three on a good day.

Let's Judge The Lincoln MKZ On Its Own Merits

April 8, 2014

Yes, I know you’ve read numerous reviews of the Lincoln MKZ. Before you skip this one, to keep readers (and myself) interested, I made a promise to myself that while reviewing the car that the terms “Ford” or “Fusion” wouldn’t exist in my consciousness. That’s because I’m sick of hearing those words mentioned throughout every MKZ review I’ve read in newspapers, magazines, and websites, and frankly, the Lincoln people are too.

That Had a Manual? The Lincoln LS Edition

March 6, 2014

I've been critical of Lincoln lately, but that's only because the LS has existed in my lifetime, so I know the Lincoln Motor Company has serious potential. If the LS never existed, I would've given up on Lincoln instead of writing about how they had no idea where they were going, a statement which didn't sit well with the Lincoln brass.

Driver Profile: Lincoln Town Car

March 2, 2014

I definitely made this one way too easy for myself, because everyone knows who drives a Town Car. It's always some baby boomer who works for or owns a limousine service. If it's not them, however, it'll be someone easily over 60 who consider it a luxury car on par with anything put out by Mercedes-Benz. However, since Lincoln is no longer making a Town Car sedan, they've slapped the "Town Car" name on an MKT, and have sold them in droves to livery services. This means that you might be redirected to the nearest prep school when you show up at a charity gala.

Lincoln Has No Idea Where It's Going And What It's Become

February 16, 2014

Today’s topic of discussion is luxury car brands that are fighting to stay relevant. Unfortunately, there are a number of brands that fall into that category. There’s Lotus, maker of the Evora, a “2+2,” yet manages to be uncomfortable for everyone involved. There’s Aston Martin, a company learning the risks of using the same platform for the last ten years and of using Chinese “plastic.” And there’s Acura, all of whose vehicles scream “entry-luxury” and whose salesmen scream “Don't forget us! We're going to have a new NSX in five years or so!”
